What is culture? A commonly used word with a multiplicity of meanings and functions denoting wider or narrower phenomena. The purpose of this discussion will be to explore and unpack the concept of culture and the term “cultural” embedded in sociological discourse and analysis. We will reflect on the concept and its history as well as reflect on some aspects of cultural practice- namely creative practices that are often entangled in the elite v.s popular distinction.
